Obituary: Vernell Burch Spradley
Vernell Burch Spradley (86) died February 17th at Saint Cloud Medical Center. She was born in Folkston, Georgia to the late John Fairlee Spradley and Allie Melinda Walker Spradley. Vernell had lived in Folkston and then St. Mary’s most of her life, until 18 years ago when she came to live with Tammy and Brooke in St. Cloud, Florida. She never gave up her residence in St Mary’s and always considered herself a Georgia resident.
She is survived by 8 children: Juanell S. (David) Andrix, Joanne E. Nolder, Shirley F. (David) Hudson, Joel Samuel “Sammy” (Kathy) Spradley, Peggy C. (Grant) Everage, John K. “Buddy” (Judy) Spradley, Russell A. (Tina) Spradley, and Tammy L.L. (Brooke) Rowe; 2 sisters, Lois Miller and Allie Mae (Bill) Russell; 2 brothers, Jay (Jessie Mae) Burch and Royce Burch, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Layton Burch and a grandson, Joe Spradley.
Vernell (mama) is loved tremendously by all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her very large extended family. She always abided by her "country values" and her Christian upbringing. Mama was a very private, shy person, but like her mother before her she was loved by anyone who met her.
The family received friends Monday, February 20, 2012 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 21 at 2:00 PM at the Homeland Pentecostal Church with Rev. Sammy Spradley and Rev. Jeff Crawley officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Spradley, Travis Spradley, Rusty Spradley, Keith Hudson, Jarrett Crawley, and Schrade McDonald.
Condolences may be expressed by signing the guest registry at www.shepardfh.com . Arrangements are under the direction of Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia.
